Poland is one of tha Baltic countries lying only 55 nm away from the Danish island of Bornholm. At the same so close yet far away (at least mentally). We visited Poland first time back in 1994 when the paperwork was a serious hassle and you had a definite sense of old eastern Europe. Later we have been there in 2009 (pictures here), when everything had changed. Poland was now a member of the EU, but still a different experience from the countries we usually visit. Exiting (though rebuild) old cities and particularly a facinating nature around the river Oder and its mouth into the Baltic sea
